Third Judicial District Court
Welcome to the Jury Office
District Court Daily Jury Duty Schedule:
Magistrate Court Daily Jury Duty Schedule:
One vital element of this court is jury service. As a juror you play a significant role in ensuring that justice is carried out fairly and impartially.
Right to a Jury Trial
The Constitutions of the United States and the State of New Mexico guarantee the right of trial by jury. Juries may consist of six or twelve members depending on the court and type of case.
Who May Serve
Any citizen who is qualified to vote, has a valid State of New Mexico driver’s license or who files a New Mexico personal income tax return, may be summoned for service as a juror.
You Have Been Summoned
If you received a summons in the mail you will need to fill out the Juror Qualification Form and the Juror Questionnaire Form online at https://Jury.nmcourts.gov. You will have to refer to your juror badge number and your date of birth when signing in to the juror website. If you are not able to sign in with your juror badge number and date of birth, please contact the jury office.
You MUST Appear
Unless you receive an excusal card from the Court stating that you are excused from attending jury service, you MUST appear at the court on the date listed on your summons. Not showing up for jury duty, when summoned, is called Failure to Appear. The penalties include: $500 fine or up to six (6) months in jail. (NMSA 1978, 31-19-1)
Calling In/Confirming Reporting Status
It is the prospective juror’s responsibility to call the jury recording at 575-523-8285 every day after 5:30 p.m. for the month they are summoned for. The jury recording will state what group numbers have to report, what time to report and what courtroom number to report to. Jurors are to report only when they hear their group number being called in. DO NOT pay attention to the date on the juror dashboard; the summons date on that website is for system purposes ONLY and does not reflect any date you might possibly be called in for.
A courtesy reminder postcard will be mailed to prospective jurors prior to the term summoned for begins. Please be aware that jurors will remain on call every day for the summoned term.
Contact information is here.
